Summary

Description

This sign, curated by the Neon Museum, once belonged to, and stands on the site of, the Landmark, a skinny circular hotel tower with about 500 or so rooms, on the northwest corner of Paradise Road and Convention Center Drive. Opened in the late 1960s, the exterior was used for James Bond's stunt scenes in the 1971 movie Diamonds Are Forever, serving as the upper floors of the Whyte House.

The Landmark is no more; due to its relatively small size, it had no chance of competing against megaresorts, and soon after the 1989 opening of the Mirage, it closed in 1990, and was eventually razed in 1995 to make room for the Convention Center's extra parking.
