Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8)	Support discussion of Tolkien's choices in the drawing, both its origins in Robert Munro's Les Stations Lacustres d'Europe aux ages de la pierre et du bronze, 1908, and the relationship between the image and the text of The Hobbit, and problems with the image as a representation of the scene, as discussed by and cited to Hammond & Scull's J. R. R. Tolkien: Artist & Illustrator.
Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1)	Since this exact image by Tolkien is the subject of the discussion, no alternative is possible.
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3)	This is the only one of Tolkien's drawings in the article, and the only one of his images of Esgaroth anywhere on Wikipedia. It is used at very poor resolution.
Respect for commercial opportunities (WP:NFCC#2)	The image has been in print for many decades, and is widely available on the Web at (much) better resolution than here.
