| Description |
English: Labour Battalions (Amele Taburu) instituted by the Ottoman Empire (Young Turks) in World War I from Greeks deported from the western and northern coasts of Anatolia into the interior. Ca. 250,000 Greeks lost their lives in the atrocious living and working conditions there.
Ελληνικά: Τα Τάγματα Εργασίας (Αμελέ Ταμπουρού) που ίδρυσε η Οθωμανική Αυτοκρατορία (Νεότουρκοι) κατά τον Α' ΠΠ. Επανδρώθηκαν με εκτοπισμένους Έλληνες της Ιωνίας και του Πόντου, που αναγκάστηκαν σε βαρειά εργασία, υπό σκληρές συνθήκες, στο εσωτερικό της Μικράς Ασίας. Υπολογίζεται ότι 250.000 Έλληνες έχασαν τη ζωή τους σε αυτά ως το τέλος του 1918. |
