Après l'exode de la communauté juive, la synagogue est transformée en mosquée et on la renomme officiellement Djamâa Farès, mosquée Farès mais pour beaucoup d'habitants elle reste nommée la Djamâa Li houd (جامع اليهود), signifiant « la mosquée des juifs »
