Le Theatrum Botanicum de nuit pour les 30 ans de la Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain

Le jardin de la Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain n’est ni un parc à l’anglaise, ni un jardin à la française, ni même un parc de sculptures mais une œuvre commandée à l’artiste Lothar Baumgarten. Il emprunte son nom, Theatrum Botanicum, aux livres dans lesquels les moines inventoriaient les plantes médicinales et aromatiques au Moyen Âge.... En dessinant ce jardin, Lothar Baumgarten a créé une harmonie de mesures et de proportions entre le bâtiment de Jean Nouvel (1994) et l’ancien mur qui enclôt le parc et qui garde l’écho des promenades de Chateaubriand qui vécut sur ces lieux.
