Description
English: Kumegawa Battlefield in 2008. A stone column commemorates the battle fought in 1333 and is located at the bottom of the photo. This photo was taken from the slope of Hachikokuyama from which the victorious Samurai general Nitta Yoshisada commanded the battlefied. Less than a week later Nitta's troops fought themselves 50 kilometers south to Kamakura and destroyed the city and ended the Kamakura Shogunate. Kumegawa is now part of Higashimurayama (surburban Tokyo).
