Summary

Description
English: Kites Shaft, Mineshaft Cover. This small stone building is one of the more elaborate ways of covering old mine shafts. Normally the shafts are capped, or covered by a conical wire frame. Kites Shaft was part of the West Wheal Towan mine and this cover was built over it in 1998. It might be tempting to drop a stone down the shaft but this should be avoided because of the danger of hitting sleeping bats.
