Summary

Description
English: Kingsway, Valletta in the 1910s.

Other interesting features include a little girl in a għonnella, a mobile barrel (water cart) douching the street is in the middle of the road, boaters on men, an officer wearing a light coloured uniform - possibly a policeman.

On the right side, the Pohoomull Brothers from India's store offering 'Oriental textiles'. The Pohoomull Brothers were the predecessors of many other Indian Maltese families. They applied to set up shop in Malta in 1887. "By 1910, more than 10 Sindhi firms had a business in British run Malta, which was a node in a global trade network. This small number of Sindhis held shops in the central shopping thoroughfare of Valletta, Strada Reale, to cater for a high-end tourist market ..."

The next shop toward St.Elmo is "A' La Ville de Londres" - and part of the sign above can be seen. The shop windows are covered to protect the items from the sun.
