This mosque, which was built by Mimar Sinan in 1573, whose hometown was Kayseri and whose real name was Hacı Ahmet Paşa Mosque, was named "Kurşunlu Mosque" due to its central dome covered with lead. The mosque is the only [remaining?] work of Mimar Sinan, who made 12 works in the city, Kurşunlu Mosque and Fountain 03 in Kayseri. It attracts attention with its interior decorations, pulpit and domed fountain carried by pointed arches stepping on eight columns in the courtyard. Kurşunlu Mosque, a classical Ottoman period architectural work, is one of the most beautiful mosques in Kayseri in terms of decoration. The last congregation place [the portal in front] of the mosque, built with cut stone, has double porticoes, as in Mimar Sinan's Mihrimah, Atik Valide and Eminönü Rüstem Pasha mosques in Üsküdar, Istanbul. |
