Summary

Description

This aircraft is a survivor of the collapse of Origin Pacific. It is now currently operated by National Airways on behalf of air New Zealand, primarily on the experimental Christchurch to Oamaru route - hence the name 'Spirit of Waitaki' seen here. In this shot the aircraft is operating a blenheim to Christchurch flight.

MSN .946 ex G-31-946, N946AE) Was first flown on September 29, 1991. Exported to the US, it left Prestwick on October 29, 1991. The aircraft was leased to West Wing Airlines in California, and then Air Virginia. It arrived in Wellington on February 26, 1999, and was registered to Rex Aviation (NZ) on March 24. It has had four different New Zealand registrations , arriving originally as ZK-REY of ansett NZ.
