Title
Iron Age brooch
Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy strip bow brooch of Late Iron Age to Roman date (c. AD 25 - 75). The pin and one of the wings are missing. It measures 44.40mm in length, 9.0mm maximum width, 0.65mm minimum width, is 22.1mm thick and weighs 2.97g.

The head is divided into two rolled wings divided by a central pin slot. One of the wings is now slightly bent. The wings are 9.0mm wide and are rolled forwards underneath the bow to accomodate the axis bar for the hinged pin mechanism, now missing. The pin is missing.

The upper bow is decorated with a vertical groove running along approximately half of the length. Below this the bow tapers sharply to the foot. The catchplate is broadly triagnualr and the curl of the catch plate survives.
