The nave dates from earlier 13th cent. (widened c. 1500). The North transept is later 12th, the south transept from c. 1500. The tower over the Crossing was rebuilt c. 1500 with the Chancel, Sacristy and S. Aisle also from c 1500. It fell into ruin after the reformation and in 1899 the Duke of Argyll transferred ownership to the Iona Cathedral Trust, which undertook extensive restoration of the Abbey church.
