The parish church of San Pedro is one of the most important monuments of Calasparra, factory and brick masonry buildings accordingly typically baroque Murcia, whose walls have been plastered with white plaster in the last restoration of the building. The church has three naves and a Latin cross.

It is located in the old town, presiding over the primitive and irregular square. The main facade is accessed through a semicircular staircase that saves the difference in level with the rest of the square. About the cover to access the interior of the temple is listed as decorative theme attributes of the owner, St. Peter, two crossed keys, the kingdom of heaven; a tiara flanked by a staff and a cross patriarchal.

This is a church with a rich cabinet consists of twelve altars and good sizes.

San Pedro Calasparra Features

Medieval church has undergone transformations over time, the last in the nineteenth century. The set is a typical example of architecture of the seventeenth century. Its factory is masonry and brick, as they come to be the Murcian Baroque buildings, and walls plastered with white plaster due to the recent restoration of Peter A. In April.

Inside the temple

Their layout is organized around a Latin cross with three naves of similar proportions. The supports are cruciform Doric pilasters which support a triumphal arches and transverse ribs, all of half a point, which in turn constitute the skeleton of the vaults, barrel, covering the three cruise ships.

At the foot at the top, sits the chorus. The tower is also the feet, to the southeast, on the left side of the cover, divided into four sections, being the last the bell.

The main facade

The main facade consists of two parts. Access is via a semicircular staircase that saves the difference in level with the rest of the square. In the attic is listed as decorative theme iconographic symbols of the holder of the temple on two crossed keys, the kingdom of heaven, a tiara flanked by a staff and a patriarchal cross, symbol of the power of the bishops of the Western church and east respectively.

The attic is surmounted by a pediment simulated, party to hold an oculus that serves the dual mission to illuminate the interior of the choir and serve as a decorative element to the outside.

The cover

The doorway is flanked by two balconies with wrought iron railing and bra straps of same material, with paneled woodwork of the eighteenth century. Both balconies have the same mission that the oculus above.

The lower part houses the entrance, semicircular, with hints of bell mouth, which closes with door hinged wooden Baroque quatrefoil studs, flanked by Doric pilasters and a simple entablature over them which leads to the attic.

La iglesia parroquial de San Pedro es uno de los monumentos más importantes de Calasparra, de fábrica de mampostería y ladrillo como corresponde a los edificios típicamente barrocos murcianos, cuyos paramentos han sido revocados de yeso blanco en la última restauración del inmueble. Es una iglesia de tres naves y planta de cruz latina.

Se encuentra ubicada en el casco antiguo de la villa, presidiendo la primitiva e irregular plaza mayor. A la fachada principal se accede por medio de una escalinata semicircular que salva el desnivel existente con el resto de la plaza. Sobre la portada de acceso al interior del templo figura como tema decorativo los atributos del titular, San Pedro: dos grandes llaves cruzadas, las del reino de los cielos, una gran tiara flanqueada por un báculo y una cruz patriarcal.

Se trata de una iglesia que cuenta con un rico patrimonio mueble compuesto por doce retablos y buenas tallas.

San Pedro Calasparra Características

Iglesia de origen medieval que ha sufrido transformaciones a lo largo del tiempo, la última durante el siglo XIX. El conjunto es un típico ejemplo de arquitectura popular del siglo XVII. Su fábrica es de mampostería y ladrillo, como vienen a ser los edificios barrocos murcianos, y paramentos revocados de yeso blanco debido a la última restauración de Pedro A. Abril.

Interior del templo

Su distribución interior se organiza en torno a una cruz latina con tres naves de similares proporciones. Los soportes son pilastras cruciformes de orden dórico que sirven de apoyo a los arcos triunfal y fajones, todos de medio punto, que a su vez constituyen el esqueleto de las bóvedas, de medio cañón, que cubren las tres naves del crucero.

A los pies, en lo alto, se sitúa el coro. La torre se eleva también a los pies, al sureste, en el lado izquierdo de la portada, distribuida en cuatro cuerpos, constituyendo el último el de campanas.

La fachada principal

La fachada principal consta de dos cuerpos. A ella se accede por medio de una escalinata semicircular que salva el desnivel existente con el resto de la plaza. En el ático figura como tema decorativo los símbolos iconográficos del titular del templo: sobre dos grandes llaves cruzadas, las del reino de los cielos, una gran tiara flanqueada por un báculo y una cruz patriarcal, símbolo del poder de los obispos de la iglesia Occidental y Oriental respectivamente.

El ático está rematado por un simulado frontón, partido para albergar un óculo que cumple la doble misión de iluminar el interior del coro y servir de elemento decorativo al exterior.

La portada

La portada se encuentra flanqueada por dos balconcillos con antepecho de forja y tirantes de sostén del mismo material, con carpintería de cuarterones del siglo XVIII. Ambos balconcillos tienen idéntica misión que el óculo superior.

El cuerpo inferior alberga la entrada, de medio punto, con atisbos de abocinamiento, que se cierra con puerta barroca de batientes de madera estoperoles cuadrifolios, flanqueada por dos pilastras de orden dórico y sobre ellas un sencillo entablamento que da paso al ático.
