This biology image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.

It is recommended to name the SVG file “IgG.Opsonization.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.

Summary

Description
English: The variable, or Fab, region of the antibody binds with high specificity to an epitope on an antigen. This opsonizes the antigen for phagocytic cells: the FcR binds the Fc region of the antibody, facilitating phagocytosis. FcRs are also present on NK Cells, which are important for clearing tumor cells and virally-infected cells.

IgG binds antigen with high affinity via the Fab region; the Fc region is then bound by Fc Receptor (FcR) on phagocytic or NK cells - antibody-mediated opsonization.
