Summary

Description
English: Ifton Meadows covered by Ifton Colliery bing. The area formerly known as Ifton Meadows was used as the bing for Ifton colliery during the lifetime of the pit. When the colliery closed in 1968 the Shropshire CC worked with the aid of an Dept. of the Environment (the Environment Agency as is now) derelict land grant scheme (funded by the European Coal & Steel fund) to regrade and reseed the bing, also there was and continues to be, considerable tree planting. The whole area, 19.3 ha (48 ac.) in total is a public access area. A similar area is at SJ 3146.
