Summary[edit]

This non-free media file has been set up with as small a version as possible, to comply with Wikipedia's non-free content policy and United States copyright law. The current resolution has been manually selected to achieve as small an image as possible without destroying the image content. According to Wikipedia's policy for non-free content, the amount of non-free work should be as little as possible. In particular, non-free media on Wikipedia should not be usable as substitutes for the original work.

The resolution was reduced as much as possible to comply with the intent of WP:IMAGERES and applicable copyright laws. However, as the image is text-based a further reduction in size will make it unusable for the encyclopedic purposes of illustrating the map for readers. Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8)	Will illustrate the geography of the setting in the "Setting" section. Currently, the setting section describes in words various countries that the main character travels to, without showing their place in the overall geographic landmass of the Hyborian Age. This map provides that visual setting.
Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1)	None appear to exist. And even if an alternative image were hand-drawn after this or the original image, it may itself be subject to copyright, preventing the creation of an alternative, free illustration.
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3)	File used only once at this resolution on Wikipedia: in this article. Although file size is slightly larger than normal to allow readability of country names for encyclopedic purposes, image size is approximately at the size required to read the accompanying text with 20/20 vision under normal conditions, and not larger.
Respect for commercial opportunities (WP:NFCC#2)	The Marvel-created image already appears on the official Conan.com website. Also, as this image would likely have been used in Conan comic books to illustrate to a reader the Hyborian War nations as a reference, its use here would not compete with those images commercially, as Wikipedia cannot supply the accompanying fictional content.
Other information	Non-free, no reduce rationale: size of image must be slightly larger than that allowed by WP:IMAGERES due to the fact that the names of the countries are not readable at the normally-allowable resolutions for fair use on Wikipedia. Thus, the use of the image would not be encyclopedic without a slightly larger image size.
