Summary

Description This image shows Hurricane John off the coast of Southern Baja California, just four hours before it made its first landfall in Cabo del Este. It was captured by the MODIS instrument on NASA's Aqua satellite on September 1 at 2055 UTC. John's maximum sustained winds were observed at 110 mph and its minimum central pressure at 958 mb.
