Summary

Description
English: Hunslet Mills This part of Leeds is changing very rapidly. It was a derelict wasteland when I took this. A quote from "Bright Future - The Re-use of Industrial Buildings" by Binney et al (1990) seems in order - "Hunslet Mill is the only remaining building of architectural merit in an abandoned urban wilderness where recent development has contributed nothing to the quality of the environment". Built 1838-40 for steam powered flax spinning and reliably attributed to William Fairbairn and is a good example of early fireproof construction.
