Summary[edit]

This is a bridge across two card towers which I made. The two towers are exactly two card lengths apart. There are about five cards to act as counter weights for the first card that hangs no more than half way over the edge. This was done for both towers then the bridge was extended about an inch at each side by placing two over lapping cards and weighing down only the top one. The new counter weights now being closer to the edge of the tower rather than in the middle of the tower unlike the first one. Then a single central card is held up by the two over lapped cards from each side. In theory the bridge could probably span a distance of three card lengths or more depending on how tightly the cards are held together, and how much they are over lapped. As the weight of the towers begins leaning inward, the counter weights need to be spread out so they balance the opposite side of the tower to keep it stable. Lastly after adding further overlapped support, and the proper balancing at the edges of the bridge, I added central filling cards. However the more weight in the center, the more it began to sag and could eventually collapse.
