Summary

Description The obverse side of Francis Hopkinson's preliminary design for the Great Seal of the United States, done as part of the second committee (of three) to attempt a design (which was unsuccessful). He made a modification shortly afterwards, replacing the Indian warrior with a Roman centurion.
