Summary

Description

Basically all spiders have various structural "hairs" (= setae) on their body. Authors Duncan, Autumn & Binford (2007) showed that Homalonychus setae are special, with many side-branches ("hairlettes") that serve to trap sand/soil particles, thus providing a natural cryptic covering for these spiders.
