English: Histopathology of the thalamus at high magnification, showing a normal neuron at left, and in an infarction at approximately 24 hours at right, with a hypereosinophilic neuron, as well as an infiltrate of neutrophils. The surrounding neuropil has slight edema and loss of the normal architecture. H&E stain.
