Summary

Description
English: St Mary's Abbey stood in a secluded valley and was founded by the Premonstratensian order of canons when they were granted the Manor of Hales by King John in 1215. The abbey fell into ruin after the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII, and now very little of it remains.
