Description

Space-filling model of the haem a molecule as found in the crystal structure of bovine heart cytochrome c oxidase.

Histidine residues coordinating the iron atom have been omitted for clarity.

Colour code:

  • Carbon, C: grey-black
  • Hydrogen, H: white
  • Nitrogen, N: blue
  • Oxygen, O: red
  • Iron, Fe: blue-grey
