Description Men smothered in fuel oil taking a breath of fresh air on the flight deck of the cruiser HMS MANCHESTER after being rescued from below deck. One of them is wearing a life preserver. Whilst taking part in convoy duty to Malta in the Mediterranean, the cruiser had been hit by an aerial torpedo and the rescue party was bringing up crewmen trapped below decks.
