Description PORT SIDE VIEW OF THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER HMAS SYDNEY (III) PREPARING TO COME ALONGSIDE AFTER HER DELIVERY VOYAGE. NOTE THE TYPE 960 AIR SEARCH RADAR AT THE MASTHEAD, TYPE 293Q AIR/SURFACE SEARCH RADAR JUST BELOW IT AND TYPE 277Q HEIGHT FINDING RADARS ABOVE THE BRIDGE AND BEHIND THE FUNNEL. 40MM BOFORS AA GUNS ARE MOUNTED IN SPONSONS DOWN HER SIDE. SHE IS CARRYING A DECK CARGO OF SEA FURY AND FIREFLY AIRCRAFT COCOONED AS AN ANTI CORROSION MEASURE DURING THE VOYAGE. THE SHIP'S COMPANY ARE MANNING THE SIDE FOR ENTERING PORT.
