English: Sailors aboard the U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer USS Sampson (DDG-102), not visible, salute as the Australian Armidale-class patrol boat HMAS Larrakia (ACPB 84), during a ceremony commemorating the 73rd anniversary of the Battle of Sunda Strait. Representatives from Australia, the U.S. and Indonesia visited the graves of the cruisers HMAS Perth (D29) and USS Houston (CA-30) which were sunk fighting Japanese naval forces on 1 March 1942. More than 1,000 Australian and U.S. sailors gave their lives during the battle.
