| Description |
English: Grimsbury Castle The castle is difficult to discern being in thick woodland, but this is a section of the double bank and moat around the outside. It is an iron age hill fort; yes it is on a hill that would have commanding views were it not for the trees! However, it was occupied and renamed by the Saxons in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. Grim is an alternative name for their god Woden.
