Summary

Description
English: Grave stele of Eukarpos and Philoxenos. Pentelic marble. Found in Athens. The stele has the form of a ‘naiskos’. The names of the deceased are inscribed on the epistyle. Eukarpos and his brother Philoxenos of Miletos, were farmers, as is clear from ploughshare carved on the pediment, the "lagobolons" (stick to throw at hares) held by Eukarpos, and the two oxen behind him. After the middle of the 2nd cent. A.D. Accession number: 1243. National Archaeological Museum of Athens.
