English: Grand Entrance on the 'Aquitania' (1914)

Interior of the passenger liner 'Aquitania' (1914) showing the Neoclassical style Grand Entrance at Promenade Deck (A Deck) level, a view from the port side.

The painting over the First Class Main Staircase is a ‘Roman Capriccio’ by Giovanni Pannini (1691-1765) depicting the Colosseum, the Borghese Warrior, the Dying Gaul, the Tomb of Cestius, the Arch of Constantine and the Borghese vase. The doors of the First Class Drawing Room are visible in the background.

The decoration of the Grand Entrance was carried out by Marcel Boulanger, Paris.
