Summary

Description
English: Examples of glass filler (microspheres) and glass material (cut fibers) for plastics reinforcement:
  • glass microspheres (or glass beads); diameter: about 300 µm, specific gravity: 2.5. Mineral filler mainly used to increase the stiffness of a thermoset resin and to make road safety markings;
  • 5 mm length chopped strands of fiberglass used to reinforce thermoset resins.
Français : Exemples de charge renforçante (microsphères) et de renforts (fibres coupées) en verre pour les plastiques :
  • microsphères (ou microbilles) de verre de diamètre environ 300 µm et densité 2,5 ; charge minérale utilisée surtout pour améliorer la rigidité d'une résine thermodurcissable et pour faire des marquages routiers ;
  • fibres de verre (préalablement agglomérées) hachées en brins de longueur 5 mm ; utilisation comme renfort de résines thermodurcissables.
