DOV (Gerard)(1613-1675) 8. — Rembrandt in his Studio Seated on the left, on a low seat which is covered with a greenish-grey cloth; turned to the right; three-quarter face, with eyestowards the spectator. A blue beret on his head, pushed back.Dressed in a brown-grey, loose garment, which is fastened aroundthe waist with a variegated sash. The border of his shirt visiblearound the neck. In his left hand he holds his palette and brushes.Before him, on the right, a table covered with a blue cloth, uponwhich a large, open book, some smaller books, a mandoline, askull, a quill-pen and inkstand. His face is slightly bent to the left; bare-headed; thebeard just beginning to grow; long, curly hair. White collar andcuffs; black cassock with black sash around the waist, from whicha small medallion is sticking forth. The fine aristocratic face andhands are brilliantly illumined. Canvas, 4 ft. 1/2 in. by 3 ft. 3 1/2 in. ® VAN EVERDINGEN (Albert) ( I 62 I-I 675) 10. — Scene in Norway; with a Cascade A hilly country. A mountain-stream is rushing over a dam androlling down in mighty cascades, around an immense bowlder.Various country-houses near the dam, surrounded with pines andother trees.
