Summary[edit]

This is a photograph of Lim Chong Eu and Syed Hussein Alatas (Lim is the man on the left being hoisted, and Syed Hussein is the bearded fellow), celebrating Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia's victory in the Malaysian general election, 1969. A celebratory rally held by their party, linked to discussion of the issue of ketuanan Melayu, indirectly caused the May 13 Incident.
