Description
English: 1904 llustration by The Worthington Advance newspaper (September 2, 1904, p. 7) depicting U.S. General Wilmon W. Blackmar, following his election as Commander-in-Chief of the Grand Army of the Republic. Blackmar, who initially enrolled for American Civil War service with the 15th Pennsylvania Cavalry, was awarded the U.S. Medal of Honor «for extraordinary heroism on April 1, 1865, while serving with Company H, 1st West Virginia Cavalry, in action at Five Forks, Virginia.»
