Summary

Description
English: A first attempt at making a map of all the documented gates of Fes.

Note: This was made by using the file "Carte Enceintes de Fes.PNG" by user:Omar-toons as a base for the current outline of the walls. I made minor modifications to the wall outlines to be more consistent with what people would actually see today. The location and names of the gates were determined principally with the help of two books: Le Tournean (1949), "Fès avant le protectorat"; and Gaudio (1982) "Fès: Joyau de la civilisation islamique". I also used my own experience/memories of visiting most of the locations to help. A few minor, and arguably insignificant, gates are not shown (e.g. Bab Ziat) as they are not named in any published sources I have seen. There are many minor and major openings and gaps in the walls that are used for traffic but which don't correspond to any particular historic gates.
