Summary

Description The President of the United States, William J. Clinton presented the nation's highest award for military valor The Medal of Honor (Posthumously) to Carmen, the widow of Master Sergeant Gary I. Gordon. He and his Sniper Team Member were killed on 03 October 1993, while serving as Team Leader, United States Army Special Operation Command with Task Force Ranger in Mogadishu, Somalia. They provided precision sniper fire from the lead helicopter during an assault on a building and at two helicopter crash sites, while subjected to intense automatic weapons fire and rocket propelled grenades.
