This building was built in 1816 to be the abode of the then Superintendant of Boats, John Cadman. After he retired from this position in 1845 and subsequently moved out of the house, it was used as the headquarters of the Sydney Water Police, a petty sessions court and an ageing sailor's home. It was left abandoned in the 1960, and in 1970 it was gazetted under the National Parks and Wildlife Act as a Historic site, to be preserved.

Its resolution is higher than the one currently on Wikimedia Commons, its colours are better than the previous one and there are no people standing in front of the house.
