Description
A woman, perhaps Lucina, goddess of childbirth, presents the goddess of love, Aphrodite (Roman Venus) with the beautiful infant Adonis. Aphrodite holds the myrrh tree from which Adonis was born. Aphrodite turned Adonis's mother Myrrha into a tree to save her own father, King Theias.
