Description

Sketch of a lead seal of Frederick de la Roche, archbishop of Tyre. Second half of the 12th century. It reads:

+ S FRED'ICI . TIRENSIS ARCHIEPI : [meaning sigillum Frederici, Tyrensis archiepiscopi]
+ CIVITAS TYPI [civitas Tyri]

On the obverse is Frederick, mitred, holding a crozier and raising his right hand in benediction. On the reverse is a castle with three towers representing Tyre.
