Description
English: Portrait of Frédéric-César de La Harpe in bust length, at the age of 49. He has an oval face and brown eyes. His white-gray hair is combed back and it covers the ears and the back of the neck. His forehead is slightly receding. His sideburns are bushy. The light, which comes from the left, illuminates the left part of his face and leaves the right part more in shadow. He wears a white tie around the neck and a frill, as well as a closed white waistcoat with a high collar and wide lapels. Over it, he wears an open dark blue frock coat with a wide collar and large buttons. The background is gray, with hectic brushstrokes; it turns from dark on the left to sky blue in the upper right corner.
