This is an image of a place or building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in the United States of America. Its reference number is 71000485.

Fort Kearny was a historic outpost of the United States Army founded in 1848 in the western U.S. during the middle and late 19th century. The outpost was located along the Oregon Trail near present-day Kearney, Nebraska, which took its name from the fort (with a modification of spelling). Photo taken from former parade ground looking southeast toward the cattle stockade, not to be confused with the fort which had now walls as the area had been pacified and there was no longer any threat of Native American attack.
