IAA Frankfurt 2019
There was lots of news coming from Ford at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, with a world debut for the new Puma compact crossover, which will be positioned between the EcoSport and Kuga, as well as the European debut of the third generation Kuga (named Escape elsewhere) and the European launch of the Explorer. The Explorer will now officially be sold in Europe and sort of replaces the Edge in most European markets, of which sales failed to gain traction. The Explorer will only be sold as a plug-in hybrid, which means a 3.0-litre EcoBoost V6 petrol engine (257 kW/350 PS) mated to an electric motor with a system power of 331 kW/450 PS and 840 Nm of torque. Its electric range is 40 kilometers with its 13.4 kWh lithium-ion battery package. German prices start at 74,000 euros.
