Summary

Description
English: Swiss jurist Jean Simon Pictet (1914-2002) at the Geneva headquarters of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in 1937. As an expert in International Humanitarian Law (IHL) he became a senior executive and later Vice-President of the ICRC. Pictet was instrumental in drafting the 1949 Geneva Conventions for the protection of victims of war and later taught law at the University of Geneva.
