Summary

Description
English: Flux of POC (mg C m−2 d−1) with depth

POC fluxes of fast-sinking particles measured in June 2015 at a site on the Porcupine Abyssal Plain via deployment of marine snow catchers. Error bars relate to replicate filters per sample. A power-law curve was fitted to the data (black line),
Y = 194.9 (X / MLD)−0.71 (R 2 = 0.42, p = 0.060, n = 9),

excluding the point at 500 m (triangle) which is likely due to nonsteady-state conditions. The grey shaded area indicates the mixed layer depth over the study period.
