Summary

Description
English: Fluorescence micrograph of the diatom Thalassiosira nanae.

Chloroplasts are red, neutral lipids green, DNA blue and the cell wall white. Fluorescence microscopy provides three-dimensional information of individual components, enabling the measurement of their volumes.
