Description

Toronto Eaton Centre, Toronto, Canada

Originally these birds were hung in two rows, several hundred yards, the length of the portion of the Eaton's centre that had the skylight from Shuter (originally Shuter was the Southern end of the Centre...) to the Eaton's store. At the south end several birds formed a "V", so the sculpture emulated the "V" shape of migrating geese.

Originally the Centre's management was very proud of this sculpture. But after a decade or so the sculpture was largely forgotten, hanging about a dozen feet from the very high ceiling. And, at Christmas time, those responsible for the extensive Christmas decorations obscured the birds with Christmas decorations.

The artist sued.
