Additional note:

The Ko Cycle is considered the Control Cycle. The Ko cycle is often referred to as the grandmother-son cycle

Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, Wood are the elements in order.

  • Usually Fire is put at the top of the cycle.

Examples of the Ko Cycle

Fire Controls Metal - Fire shapes metal. Ex. horseshoe being shaped.

Earth Controls Water- Earth holds water, Earth contains oceans, lakes etc. Earth absorbs Water like after a Tsunami.

Metal Controls Wood (axe cutting wood).

Water controls Fire- water putting out a fire. Water being used to control the size of a fire.

Wood controls Earth- roots shaping the ground. Trees shading earth. Wood builds structures on Earth.
