"Adoptado por el Honorable Concejo Municipal mediante el acuerdo 10 de 1994. Simboliza bajo su forma Suiza, una actitud pacifista ecuánime y diáfana consignado en los moradores de la Meseta, sus colores aluden las celosas aguas del Río Magdalena, la paz y la riqueza natural de los campos del Municipio. El Búho representa la cultura perpetuado por los alfareros e idóneos cesteros; el cuadro representa el relieve, la riqueza agrícola y ganadera el testimonio eclesiástico y la muestra artesanal como heráldica que precisa la laboriosidad sutileza y espiritualidad que condujeron a la institucionalización de un pueblo."
