| Description |
English: Ely railway station - route indicating signals The signals are situated at the down (north) end of platforms 2 and 3. These signals not only indicate whether the route is clear but also whether the route that the train is going to take is diverging from the route ahead. If the 'feather' of five white lights that is attached to the main signal is lit (as in the signal at right) the train will be diverging from the main route at the next junction which is Ely North Junction. The lit feather indicates that the train will take the diverging route to the left, that is the Peterborough/March line. The green light on the main signal indicates that the route is clear and that the train can leave.
