DescriptionEllen Street station and 'Long Tom' brake van on passenger train, 1947 (SLSA B 19252).jpg
English: With Ellen Street station in the background, a broad gauge train is in the centre of Ellen Street, Port Pirie and is being loaded for its journey to Adelaide. Prominent is the 12-wheeled 'Long Tom' brake van. In front of it are at least five passenger cars: visible are three steel cars normally used on these trains and two clerestory-roofed wooden cars (Victorian / South Australian Railways joint stock?). Parcels and boxes for the train are on the backs of two trucks beside the brakevan.
The image originates in a low-resolution download available free of charge from the State Library of South Australia (SLSA) website (https://collections.slsa.sa.gov.au/resource/B+19252). The library's web page states that a higher-resolution image is available for purchase from them. I slightly amended some exposure, contrast and other values and removed some blemishes, dust and chemical marks before uploading to Wikimedia Commons.
